Angie Long

2024 Community Leader of the Year

Angie Long, a Kansas City native trailblazer, inspires as an advocate and entrepreneur.   

As Chief Investment Officer and one of two Principal Owners for Palmer Square Capital, she has key responsibilities for all investment-related activities. In December of 2020 Angie added the title of Professional Sports Team Owner, as she joined Co-Founder and Owner Chris Long and Co-Owner Brittany Mahomes in bringing a National Women’s Soccer League franchise to Kansas City. In 2022 the group welcomed the Kansas City Chiefs starting quarterback and NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes who shares the same vision of establishing the best women’s soccer club in the world and having the Kansas City Current serve as a model for all of women’s sports.  

Angie’s stellar career and work in the world of credit-related asset management is noteworthy. With her leadership, the firm has grown Assets Under Management (AUM) to more than $27 billion and has expanded its global presence, notably with the recent establishment of a London office. A pioneer in  credit derivatives , she created the HYDI (High Yield Debt Index), a groundbreaking trading index.  

But why stop there? She is also an architect of the firm’s leadership investment strategy in Collateralized Loan Obligations (CLOs). With more than 20 CLOs issued, including three in Europe, Palmer Square is one of only nine CLO managers among 128 with zero downgrades. Additionally, Angie’s vision was behind the firm’s proprietary scoring system to identify and evaluate fund performance in Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) metrics, with all three European funds ESG compliant. 

Angie’s career includes senior roles at JPMorgan Chase & Co. where she was named a Managing Director at age 29 and held many senior roles including Deputy Head of North American Credit Trading, Head of High Yield Trading, and Head of Credit Derivatives Trading. In addition, she worked with the Global Head of Credit Trading to help oversee risk management for the High Yield and High Grade credit trading books. 

Angie received an AB degree in Economics from Princeton University and was a member of two National Championship Rugby teams and named an All-American in 1997. Angie has continued her involvement with Princeton as she served on the Women in Leadership Committee of Princeton, founded the Greater Kansas City Princeton Women’s Network (PWN), and is currently serving as Co-Chair for the Princeton Greater Kansas City Region’s Alumni Schools Committee.  

Angie is a member of the 100 Women in Finance and is a CFA ® charter holder. 

Her alignment with the description of a “Greater Missouri Women” is evident as she is a fierce advocate for equal opportunities for women no matter what field or industry, Angie’s determination and vision was critical in securing this expansion franchise for Kansas City.  Her commitment to the vision is one of many ways in which Angie proudly supports women, opening more doors for generations to come behind her. Through her tenacity and determination, she made history by being a champion behind the opening of CPKC Stadium, the first women’s professional sports stadium in the world.   

Angie serves on the Board of Directors of Union Station as well as the KC 2026 World Cup Board. She has been recognized for her work being named to the 2022 Women’s International Champions Cup Best XI, 2022 Sports Business Journal Power Player, 2023 Business Journal’s Bizwomen 100, University of Missouri – Kansas City’s 2023 Entrepreneur of the Year and Ingram’s 2023 class of WeKC – Women Executives Kansas City. In November of 2023 Angie was inducted into the Junior Achievement of Greater Kansas City Business Hall of Fame.
