Educating and inspiring women leaders to make a difference for over 31 years.

What is the Leadership Challenge?

Each year, in a highly competitive selection process, a limited number of outstanding women leaders are accepted into program membership. The participants meet for four, three-day sessions combining continuing education in leadership development, information and major discussion of state policy issues, and exposure to the philosophies and thoughts of the state’s business, cultural, educational and political leaders.
With the wealth of talented women in the state, Greater Missouri Leadership Challenge provides an enriching experience for both the participants and the state and provides new channels of communication to broaden the participation of women in addressing the critical issues facing Missouri.

Selection Process

Participants represent a diverse cross-section of women from Missouri and its contiguous states. Each group is carefully chosen to reflect a balance of ethnic, cultural, geographic, career and philanthropic experiences. Applicants are selected by the organization’s board of directors.

Tuition for the year-long symposium is $2,900. Programming, most meals, transportation in and around the host city, and materials for each session are provided. Each participant is responsible for travel to the site and lodging expenses. A non-refundable application fee of $50 should be submitted with the application. Partial Scholarships are available to exceptional women based on clearly demonstrated financial need.

“Experience with the program has brought value to our company and our community at large. As a long-time supporter and sponsor of the Greater Missouri Leadership Foundation, ‘the Challenge’ has provided education, diverse experiences and enrichment to our leaders by exposing them to local, state, national and global issues. Diversity is a cornerstone of Ameren’s culture and Greater Missouri has a similar philosophy—differences are respected and diverse ideas and opinions are valued.”
