Amy Schneider
GMLF Board of Directors
GMLC Class of 2015

I am the director of the City of Columbia Convention and Tourism department (CVB). It is the mission of the CVB to attract visitation to our destination in the form of conventions, meetings, youth events, amateur sporting events, group tours and leisure travel. This is done in many different ways – tradeshows, marketing/advertising and hosting of travel writers to name a few.

I’m a proud graduate of the GMLC class of 2015 and now sit on the GMLF board. I am also the chair of the communications committee. Anyone can participate on this committee and we are always looking for fresh ideas.

Below are some of the things I have been doing/reading this summer:

  1. Audible books – I am a huge fan! I listen as I walk Columbia’s beautiful trails. Lately I’ve been into mysteries, particularly those dealing in fantasy. Nora Roberts is my favorite author in that genre. It’s a small part of the day that takes your mind away from the daily grind.
  2. My husband and I are looking forward to the third season of Only Murders in the Building. Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez are fantastic in this. We also found ourselves fully invested in the Olympics this summer and not just for the competition. I loved the sportsmanship each country showed one another, in wins and losses. Truly a feel good two weeks.
  3. Traveling – This summer we were lucky to be able to travel to London, Paris and Rome. What an experience! We are already talking about where we want to go next. We also like to take road trips to Mizzou Football games and experience new stadiums and traditions. Not sure where this year will take us.

I am constantly blown away by the diverse backgrounds of all who are a part of this great organization. I am genuinely honored to be a part of Greater Missouri and look forward to being involved in some way for a long time.
