Greetings Greater Missouri Leadership Friends!
GMLC 2019 Session I, under the Planning Team leadership of Jen Bradley, ’09, Commerce Bank, and Mara Woody, ’14, State of Missouri, kicks off on Tuesday, March 5 as our 30th year for Greater Missouri Leadership Challenge gets underway!
A Big Thanks to our generous sponsors, including Bayer, Boeing, Ameren Missouri, Mpix.com, Commerce Bank, Columbia Convention & Visitors Bureau, Columbia Insurance Group, Veterans United Home Loans, Shelter Insurance, and Columbia College!
We’ll focus on learning about challenges and issues in education from pre-K through higher education. We’ll study Strengths-Based Leadership, under the direction of exceptional trainer, Leigh Anne Taylor Knight, ’10. We’ll visit the Missouri Legislature, the Missouri Supreme Court, the Jefferson City Correctional Center, and the Missouri Governor’s Mansion, meeting exceptional leaders along the way and learning from them about issues facing our state.
Our 2019 Greater Missouri Leadership Challenge class includes 40 women from throughout our state. The class includes the Chief Information Officer for a multi-state bank holding company, a Dean for Undergraduate Studies at MU, a Senior Change Manager for Missouri corporations, the Education Advisor for the KC Mayor’s Office, a Manager of Technology Services for a major utility company, the director of services for an Agricultural Lender for a Missouri banking company, the Director of Publicity for a Missouri entertainment property, a Life-Balance Manager for a nationwide mortgage lender to veterans, the Head of Seed Production Strategy for a major international corporation, an HR Director for one of Missouri’s largest employers, leaders from universities in Missouri, a Director of Underwriting for one of Missouri’s largest insurance firms, executive directors of non-profit organizations, owners of small business and farming operations, and several other significant Missouri women leaders.
Our Woman of the Year event is being planned under the WOY Team Leadership of Roz Cochran, ’14, NeighborWorks America, and Jennifer Ingraham, ’08, UMKC Foundation. The event is planned for Wednesday, May 22 in Kansas City, and will honor our 2019 Woman of the Year, Jean Peters Baker at a luncheon at Grand Street Cafe. More details will follow soon, but please Save this Date, as it is bound to be inspiring and fun!
As 2019 is our 30th Year for GMLC, we’ll be celebrating in multiple ways throughout the year! Watch for special 30th Birthday events in your area!
