Dr. Joan T.A. Gabel, GMLC 2012 Alumna, was recently appointed as the 17th President of the University of Minnesota by the University’s Board of Regents!  She will assume the office on July 1, 2019.  Dr. Gabel will be the first woman in the 167-year history of the University of Minnesota to hold the position of president.

Joan currently serves as VP for Academic Affairs and Provost at the University of South Carolina.  She served as Dean of the University of Missouri Trulaske College of Business for five years prior to her move to South Carolina.  She was a member of the 2012 Greater Missouri Leadership Challenge class.
