As we welcome August and witness the winding down of summer, I find myself in a season of transition. This month, my daughter embarks on her college journey in Michigan, marking a significant milestone for our family. To help ease into this new phase, I have planned a trip to explore the western United States after seeing her off. I hope those of you experiencing similar transitions, whether it be a new work project, college, preschool, or even a career transition, find meaningful ways to navigate this change.

Recently, it was delightful to gather with many GMLC alumnae, friends, and supporters in Kansas City. The two-days of events provided a perfect blend of professional development, exploring new topics, and learning about the culture and history of the host city. It was inspiring to hear from women professionals across diverse industries and to reconnect with old and new friends. Thank you to everyone who supported these events. The tickets and sponsorships were crucial to the financial success of Greater MO, enabling us to expand the reach of the Leadership Challenge and continue to expand women’s leadership opportunities.

I am thrilled to report that this year’s Women of the Year luncheon was our most successful fundraising event to date. The event was held at the CPKC Stadium which Time Magazine just announced as one of their “World’s Greatest Places” and the room was filled with enthusiasm for our 2024 honorees. A heartfelt thank you to each of you who supported and those who were able to attend.

Plans are well underway as the regional planning team welcome you to join us in late July of 2025 when we gather in Southwest Missouri for our annual events. Next year we are flipping the agenda, starting with the Women of the Year luncheon on Wednesday in Springfield and then sliding into our alumnae reunion to be held in Branson. The enthusiasm as we gather is contagious and our board embraces the opportunity to keep up the momentum!

Finally, I have a direct ask. As we approach the fall, I encourage you to discuss the Leadership Challenge with your colleagues and friends. Applications are open until September 30, and I urge you to invite your network of women to join the transformative journey of Greater MO. The GMLF Board will review applications in November and notify those accepted by the end of the year. Share the link to apply or nominate a prospective Challenger.

As always, stay up-to-date with Greater MO events by visiting our website and following us on social media. Celebrate the accomplishments of our alums by sharing our posts on LinkedIn and Facebook. Also be sure to share any personal or professional news with us and we will share with the Greater MO network.

As we transition into this new season, please reach out and let us know how Greater MO can support you. One of the best aspects of being part of this organization is women supporting women. Stay in touch, and I hope to see you soon.
