Greetings Greater Missouri Leadership Friends!
GMLC 2019 is off to an inspiring start! With 40 members in this year’s class, we kicked off our 3-day Session I experience on March 5 in mid-Missouri, with our focus on Strengths-Based Leadership, Issues in Education, the Missouri Legislative process, our Judicial System, our Executive Branch of Government, and Missouri’s Criminal Justice system.
Our 2019 class is special in many ways, but also represents the 30th Anniversary of Greater Missouri Leadership Challenge. While in Jefferson City, our class members enjoyed an opportunity to visit the Missouri Governor’s Mansion and had the pleasure of meeting Governor Mike Parson, First Lady Teresa Parson, Lt. Governor Mike Kehoe, and Second Lady Claudia Kehoe. Governor Parson presented a Proclamation honoring Greater Missouri Leadership Foundation for our 30th Anniversary.
Special Thanks to our generous sponsors of Session I, including Columbia College, Dr. Tina Olson, Columbia Convention & Visitors Bureau, Commerce Bank, Veterans United Home Loans, Shelter Insurance, and Columbia Insurance Group.
Special thanks, also, to 2013 alumna Jan Beckett, who graciously opened her beautiful home to our Challengers for dinner on their first evening, and to Board Advisor, Dr. Leigh Anne Taylor Knight, ’10, for leading our class through Strengths-Based Leadership!
The session was co-chaired by Jen Bradley, ’09 of Commerce Bank and Mara Woody, ’14 of Missouri Courts Administration. Other team members, who donated countless hours to provide a memorable, educational program, were Kelly Myers, ’18 of Coyote Children’s Home, Ann Merrifield, ’18 of Columbia College, Amy Schneider, ’15 of Columbia C&VB, Kelly Schultz, ’13 of Office of Child Advocate, Jan Beckett, ’13 of Boone Hospital Trustees, Katie Steele Danner, ’93 of MO Division of Professional Registration, Kellie Ann Coats, ’18 of Missouri Women’s Council, and Stacye Smith, ’14 of Shelter Insurance.
Overall session rating by this year’s Challengers was 4.77 (out of possible 5.0)! A couple of my favorite review comments were…
“This session was amazing! Thank you for the opportunity to experience this.”
“Appreciated how you showcased how many women are already leading…this schedule was well-built and impactful.”
We couldn’t do all we do without you, and we thank you for staying engaged and for your financial support. I’ve enjoyed getting better acquainted with many of you these past months and look forward to continuing to share times with you during this 30th Anniversary year! Please know that your feedback is always welcomed by the GMLF Board of Directors and our executive director!
