Columbia College Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Piyusha Singh recently announced the promotion of Dr. Lisa Ford Brown, GMLC 2019,  to the position of Dean of the School of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences. She will oversee the degree programs for Criminal Justice and Human Services, History and Political Science; Education; English and Communication, Art and Music; and Sociology and Psychology degree programs.

Dr. Ford-Brown had served as interim dean since July 2018 following 17 years as a faculty member at the college. “Dr. Ford-Brown’s passion for helping our students and faculty members succeed and her commitment to Columbia College make her the ideal choice for this position,” Singh said. “Her wealth of institutional knowledge and the innovative perspective she brings to the table gives me great confidence in her vision and direction.” Ford-Brown has a Ph.D. in Speech Communication from Southern Illinois University, a Master of Arts in Communication from Indiana State University and a Bachelor of Science in Communication from Indiana State University.
