Dr. Mary Beck, GMLC Class of 1998, has recently received “The Mizzou Difference Maker” Award from the Mizzou Alumni Association.  Mary is the Chief Nursing Officer for University of Missouri Health Care and adjunct faculty, Sinclair School of Nursing (SSON). She leads nursing practice for MU Health Care, maintaining consistent and high-quality standards of patient care. Nursing excellence remains at the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic, having a transformational impact on the health of the nation.

Mary’s professional experience started in critical care nursing in rural Missouri and evolved to include critical care educator. She has also held numerous leadership roles culminating with 16 years as Vice President Patient Care Services and Chief Nurse Educator of Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Missouri. She led the hospital to achieve Magnet designation for nursing service excellence three consecutive times. Dr. Beck transitioned from full-time Assistant Teaching Professor of the SSON to the Chief Nursing Officer of MU Health Care in September 2017.

Mary is also a Griffiths Leader Society Alumnae member.
