Marsha Thompson Herriford (Class of 2020) has received a promotion to become Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) Program Manager for Catholic Charities of Kansas City -St. Joseph. At Catholic Charities they take great honor in knowing their SSVF team is Veteran-led as Marsha served in the Missouri Army National Guard. Because of shared experiences between staff and their veteran families, it opens up an opportunity to authentically help them on the road to the dignity of self-reliance.

Marsha says the “resiliency” and discipline Veterans learn in the military can be directly applied to whatever career comes after their service. “When recruiting and hiring, veterans bring knowledge and understanding, which is helpful when connecting to our homeless veteran population, the population we serve. Veterans tend to have great initiative, hardworking, and a heart for serving other veterans. It’s a peer connection.”

Marsha is also standing up a community outreach program. She encourages you to connect with her if any are interested in being a part of it.
