Sandra M. Moore
2023 Community Leader of the Year
Sandra M. Moore once characterized her approach to service as, “In this life you must give more than you take.” Sandra embodies this mantra in her professional and personal endeavors.
Sandra is a native of St. Louis and attended Washington University St. Louis where she earned both her bachelor’s and law degrees. Following her graduation, Sandra worked for Legal Services and as an Equal Employment Opportunity in St. Louis. In the 1990’s Sandra served the State of Missouri as the Director of the Department of Industrial & Labor Relations. Following her work here she began her work in urban planning, economic development and community revitalization, serving for 16 years as the Chief Executive Officer of Urban Strategies Inc a not-for-profit organization that works with development partners to re-build distressed urban core communities into vibrant, safe, residential neighborhoods. In 2017, Sandra joined Advantage Capital as the Chief Impact Officer. In this role Sandra continues her work in rebuilding and revitalizing communities by implementing the company’s mission to bring businesses, technologies and jobs to communities that have historically lacked access to investment capital.
Sandra is also deeply involved in the St. Louis community serving on various regional and national boards. Sandra has made service to her community, state and nation a priority throughout her career.
Sandra M. Moore truly embodies the spirit of the Greater Missouri Woman. This state is better because of her service and dedication to opportunities to make our communities inclusive and stronger.
